SING YOUR IRISH HEART OUT
AT THE ANNUAL SHAM-ROCK STARS COMPETITION!
Calling all future rock stars – or Sham-ROCK Stars! Back by popular demand, the Irish American Heritage Center’s 6th annual Sham-ROCK Stars competition invites you to showcase your singing talent during Irish Fest on July 11-12.
Sham-ROCK Stars spotlights amateur youth contestants to discover the fest’s greatest rising stars! Contestants perform an Irish song, traditional or modern, for a panel of judges as well as fest-goers.
Private, preliminary auditions will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 11. A panel of judges will select the top finalists in each division.
A final sing-off to decide this year’s Sham-ROCK Stars will be held on Sunday, July 12 at 1.30 p.m. Winners will be selected based on judges and audience response. The results will be announced on the Main Stage at 4 p.m. on Sunday.
In addition to a final performance on an Outdoor Stage in front of fest-goers, Sham-ROCK Stars grand prize winners and finalists will receive prizes, such as iPod nanos, free pass tickets to cultural institutions and more.
NEW IN 2009!! The ShamROCK Stars! Contest has been extended to include the adult audience. This means everyone has a chance to become a star! The adult competition will be held on Saturday evening of our festival at 8:00 p.m. Contestants will be graded by our panel of "expert" judges and audience reaction. The same rules apply: contestants are limited to solo vocalists only and performers must sing at minimum one verse and chorus of an Irish song. Spots are limited so get there early or register on-line using the form below.
DIVISIONS
CLOVERS – Children under the age of 12
SHAMROCKS – Teens between the ages of 13 and 18
LEPRECHAUNS - anyone over 18 hyears of age
REQUIREMENTS
· -Perform an Irish song of their choice (traditional or modern) or a version of their song that must be under 3 minutes long.
· Finalists must be available to perform on Sunday, July 12 for the sing-off at 1.30 pm as well as Grand Finale at 4 pm.
· The contest is open to amateur contestants only.
- Advance registration is REQUIRED for youth categories.
· Parents’ permission is required for youth categories
